The Congress has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party State Government of wanting to remove Congress members elected to cooperative committees in the State. The Pradesh Congress Committee president Pritam Singh warned that the State Government should stop targeting members of the Congress party failing which the Congress will initiate a massive protest movement across the state.
Addressing the media at the Congress Bhawan here on Monday, the PCC president averred that after having usurped positions in the cooperative banks, the BJP state government is now trying to replace the Congress members of cooperative committees with BJP members. The state government wants to remove the Congress members from the cooperative committees but the State Government cannot dissolve the Uttarakhand cooperative federation because the State Government has no share in the same. The PCC president further said that about six months ago the State Governmet had directed an inquiry but could not find anything substantial to take action upon.
Singh said that the Government is working in an ‘anti-public’ direction and wants to exert its power, which will not be tolerated by the opposition. He said that the BJP State Government should stop harassing the Congress members and leaders across the state. If the state government continues to persecute members of the Congress, the party will chalk out a plan and execute it to undertake a massive public agitation against the State Government.
Congress leader and Uttarakhand State Cooperative Federation limited (UCF) chairman Pramod Kumar Singh and other party leaders were also present in the Press conference.
