State BJP on Sunday launched Aajivan Sahyog Nidhi (lifetime Contribution Fund) with a target of collecting Rs 30 crore to meet its expenses for the next one year.
The party during its regional committee meeting which was organised in RIMS Auditorium in city on Sunday has capped the donation at Rs 2,000 for its office bearers and designated members in the State .
The party also said that donations to its fund could be made only through Demand Draft (DD) or bank cheque to promote cashless transaction and to discourage black money in party fund.
Though the party said that lower limits for MPs, MlAs, Mayors/Deputy Mayors, bosses of boards and institutions and district in-charges would be finalised during discussions later on during the day, however sources said that the amount was going to be Rs 5 lakh for party MPs, Rs 2 lakh for MlAs and Rs 1 lakh for its member bosses of boards and corporations in State.
State BJP general secretary Deepak Prakash in presence of spokesperson Rajesh Kumar Shukla and State Media in-charge Shivpoojan Pathak said that the party believed in utter honesty and transparency in political donations.
“This is why we decided during regional meeting to go cashless in terms of accepting donations. The drive under Aajivan Sahyog Nidhi will continue till end of February 28 in which our MPs, MlAs, office bearers and other members will donate amount fixed for them before they go to the society to get the target achieved as nearly as possible,” said Prakash.
Other than Chief Minister Raghubar Das and State BJP president laxman Gilua, party MPs from State, MlAs, presidents and vice presidents of boards and institutions, Mayors and Deputy Mayors from Party and office bearers from all 24 districts of State which the party has divided into 26 Districts and 513 Divisions according to its operational requirements, and others were also present during regional meeting.
“We invited 344 members in which we saw 316 present during the meeting. Others couldn’t make to come due to certain reasons including wedding season,” added Prakash. The party collected around Rs 3 Crores last year during similar drive and whatever target achieved this year is expected to be the highest donation for the party in State so far.
