Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar on Friday said the Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary in Jhajjar would be developed as a beautiful tourist resort where more facilities would be provided to tap into the huge tourism potential it holds. Khattar was on a visit to the Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary in Jhajjar.

Accompanied by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Om Parkash Dhankar, the Chief Minister also visited the lake, Prakartik Chetna Kendra, and the watch-tower set up in the sanctuary.

The Chief Minister said the youth of the area would be trained to offer their services as guides for the tourists visiting the sanctuary. The district administration would provide them three-month special training after which they would be given training certificates, he said.

The sanctuary would have special recognition in the field of tourism. Besides developing the largest wetland of the State as a tourist destination, more facilities would be provided at the lake, said the Chief Minister.

Manohar lal said he had heard a lot about the Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary but visited this place for the first time.

He also hailed it as a centre of attraction for the tourists as migratory birds in large numbers from across the globe come to this place every year between September and March.

The additional facilities to be provided to the tourists coming to this place would include arrangements for camping for night stay, beautification of the lake, and opening of dispensary for birds and the wild life, he announced. 

An assistant would soon be appointed in the dispensary. Apart from this, doctors of the Sultanpur Bird Century, Gurugram, would be made available online. Assistance would also be taken from the hospital for the wild life set up by the Jain community in Delhi.

A departmental study would also be conducted to develop the sanctuary.

The Chief Minister directed officers of the Wild life Department to provide conducive atmosphere to the birds at the sanctuary and held out the assurance that the State Government would provide all necessary support and cooperation to further develop this area as a tourist destination.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also interacted with the residents of nearby villages and listened to their grievances. He directed the officers to resolve the problem of water-logging in the area.

Dhankar suggested that the Chief Minister should be made brand ambassador of the Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary.
