Vistara, a joint venture of Tata Sons limited and Singapore Airlines limited (SIA) started direct flight service between New Delhi and Ranchi on October 29. The company’s chief strategy and commercial officer, Sanjiv Kapoor, while addressing the media persons here on Monday said that attempts are being made to expand its operation from Ranchi to other major metropolitan cities soon primarily covering Mumbai and Kolkata.
“Airport slots and capacity at present are posing hindrance in immediately initiating the services at these places. We are in talking terms with the heads, as soon as the company gets the clearance, the company will expand its services. Also, the idea behind selecting New Delhi rather than other places for the launch is merely due to the connectivity issue,” Kapoor said.
“Vistara will operate double daily direct flights between the two cities, providing a convenient same-day return option to travelers, making it the only full service carrier to offer such a service. At present, the company has interlined partnerships/ IATCI agreements with 17 major international airlines,” Kapoor added. Also, giving tough competition to all other private airline operators in India, the company has range of offers to lure the travelers.
Offers like relaxation in baggage allowances up to 5 Kgs to an individual for booking his/her flight tickets via dedicated mobile application service or through its official website irrespective of any cabin class, direct luggage transfer, advance booking benefits including providing immediate assistance to the passengers in case of emergency, the company seems to have been striving hard to attract more number of travelers covering some major domestic destinations.
The domestic airline allows the travelers to choose among the three cabin classes, namely, business class, premium economy class and economy class with wide range of facilities. Terming the airline service neither cheapest nor costliest, Kapoor said that the company’s flight charge for an individual is at par with other airline services operating in India.
