The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) celebrated ‘Rashtriya Vidyathi Divas’ to mark its foundation day (July 9) here on Sunday and called upon students to get involved in nation building.
ABVP activists undertook various programmes like hoisting of its flag, plantation activities, cleanliness drive, anti-tobacco awareness, seminars, competitions and executive meetings at various universities, colleges, other educational institutions and its branch offices at different towns and cities. Students, teachers, educations and noted persons of the society participated.
“The ABVP has, through continued efforts of over 69 years, made student demonstration very constructive and transformed the student power into a national strength,” said the students’ organisation.
Informing that 1,000 highly-educated students worked for social services for a whole year to mark the 150th birthday of Swami Vivekananda, the ABVP State office said a total of 200 students from across the country have agreed to get engaged social service works to mark celebration of 150th year of birthday of Sister Nivedita this year.
