Aadhaar updation centre opened at Bistupur head post office

People looking for getting their name or date of birth corrected in their Aadhaar card can look forward to Aadhaar Updation Centre at the Bistupur head post office .

Easing the difficulties of the public to correct the mistakes in Aadhar cards, Shashi Shalini Kujur, post master general, Jharkhand inaugurated the Aadhar Updation Centre at the head post office promising easy updating of information on Thursday.

 An official informed that Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and Department of Posts have entered into a tie-up for utilisation for providing Aadhar Updation facilities.

 The head post office  has   dedicated a window for the Aadhaar updation work. In Jharkhand, Jamshedpur becomes the 11th Aadhaar Updation Centre. The first one was inaugurated in Ranchi on July 18 followed by Gumla, lohardaga, Hazaribagh, Jhumri Telaiya, Giridih, Bagodar, Dhanbad and Bokaro. Jamshedpur is the first Aadhaar Updation Centre in the Kolhan region.

Kujur informed that there will be a total 364 Aadhaar Updation Centres across Jharkhand. A nominal charge of Rs 25 will have to be paid for updation.

The department is also in the process of identifying more post offices to help residents enrol themselves for Aadhaar cards. Soon, residents may approach any branch post office with a computerised network to update information on Aadhaar card.

 " The postal department is in the process of identifying designated post offices across the State to function as centres for Aadhaar enrolment and updating. We have recruited and trained manpower for the work and hence it would ensure minimum error on the card," said Kujur.

Kujur also said that the Singhbhum division will get another five Aadhaar Updation centres before August 15. Selected post offices are Tatanagar, Mango Golmuri, Chaibasa, and Sonari. There will be a total of 14 Aadhaar Updation centres in Kolhan that comprises of East Singhbhum, west Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan.

The senior officer also informed that Dhanbad is all set to get its first Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) after Jamshedpur and Deoghar. The POPSK will also come up in Hazaribagh, Medininagar, Daltonganj and Bokaro later.
