Five kickboxers from Odisha have been selected to participate in the WAKO (World Association of Kickboxing Organisations) World Kickboxing Championships scheduled in Budapest in Hungary from November 3 to 12.
Kartik Dakua, Biren Das, Satyapriya Patra, Jitendra Rout and Parthasarathy Das found places among the 48 candidates selected by the Indian Association of Kickboxing Organisations (IAKO) for the world kickboxing event.
While Kartik will take part in the men’s musical bare hand category, Biren Das will compete in the kick-light 75 kg soft-style category, Satyapriya in the 94 kg hard-style, Jitendra in the 79 kg point and light-contact and Parthasarathy will participate in the 89 kg point light-contact discipline, informed Odisha Kickboxing Association president Kartik Dakua.
The participants would leave for Hungary on November 1.
