A Revanth Reddy, whose resignation from Telugu Desam Party and Telangana State Assembly has created a stir in the State politics is all set to formally join Congress party on Tuesday.
Revanth Reddy will join the Congress on Tuesday at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of party vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Many of his supporters will also join Congress.
While Revanth Reddy held a meeting with his supporters in Hyderabad on Monday, AICC secretary in charge of Telangana affairs RC Kuntia met the State Congress leaders N Uttam Kumar Reddy and K Jana Reddy to discuss Revanth Reddy's induction in Congress.
Speaking to the media, Kuntia said that there was no opposition to Revanth Reddy in Congress. He, however, made it clear that no promise was made to Revanth regarding any post.
The meeting convened by Revanth Reddy was also attended by Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Meanwhile, two MlAs who had earlier quit the TDP to join ruling TRS also strongly criticised Revanth Reddy for joining Congress. E Dayakar Rao, one of the 12 legislators of TDP to defect to TRS ridiculed Revanth Reddy saying he had changed four parties till now. Telangana Telugu Desam president l Ramanna has charged Revanth Reddy with betraying the faith of the party and its leader N Chandrababu Naidu. "What Revanth Reddy did now was similar to what Nandendla Bhaskar Rao did to NTR in 1984", he said he was referring to the split in TDP which led to ousting of NTR Government for power and installation of N Bhaskar Rao as CM. However, it appears that many more TDP leaders in Telangana were likely to join Congress.
Former TDP MlA from Peddapalli Vijay Ramanna Rao held a meeting with his supporters and announced his decision to join Congress.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh State Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu denied Revanth Reddy's allegation that he had got a contract from Telangana Government.
"If there is any such contract Revanth Reddy can keep it and also any income from it".
