Even before establishment of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) base in poll-bound Gujarat, women wing president of AAP’s Gujarat unit Vandana Patel and other 100 workers joined Congress on Monday.
Interestingly, all the AAP workers including Patel wore Congress scarf at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan — the State headquarters of the Congress after removing AAP cap in front of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Bharatsinh Solanki.
It is worth mentioning that Vandana Patel joined the AAP by leaving the saffron party. Now she left the AAP to join Congress. The ambitious woman politician had also fought the lok Sabha polls from Mehsana constituency in North Gujarat from AAP ticket but couldn’t make any impact as the BJP candidate won that election comfortably.
Apart from Patel, senior AAP leader in the State, Rituraj Mehta, who fought lok Sabha election in 2014 against veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister lal Krishna Advani on AAP ticket has also join the oldest political party.
The Delhi Chief Minister’s party is all set to contest upcoming Assembly polls in Gujarat from selected constituency. The AAP has already announced first list of 11 candidates.
