Two groups of African men created chaos at a city hospital in south Delhi's Saket attacking each other with meat cleavers, swords, rods, bottles and baseball bats and vandalizing the hospital. When the guards at the hospital tried to stop them, the men attacked them as well.
A CCTV captured the entire mayhem. The footage shows the violent men smashing the door to reach the reception. The cause of trouble is not known yet as no one has been arrested yet.
According to staffers at the Sawan Neelu Angels hospital say that the incident happened around 4am when four African men entered the hospital asking them to treat a woman who had suffered injuries on her head. Before admitting her they started asking about the charges and claimed that it was too expensive for them.
In the meantime,10-12 others too reached the hospital but stood outside. Soon after another African man reached outside and stepped out of an auto rickshaw. Seeing him, the youths standing outside the hospital aggressive and started thrashing him.
He ran inside the hospital to save himself followed by the group of men. During this, they smashed the furnitures and the laboratory of the hospital.
“When one of staffers at the reception tried to ask them to take their fight outside, the men started breaking the paintings and a glass table at the reception. The receptionist was also beaten,” said Dr Ashok Kumar, in-charge of the nursing home.
“We have registered a case under sections of rioting, arson and assault based on the statement of an employee of the hospital,” said Chinmoy Biswal, additional DCP, south.
It was found that the two group had gone to a restuarant near Mehrauli church and got into a fight with each other during which one of them had smashed a beer bottle on the woman's head. A fight had ensued after that. While they had reached the hospital another youth from the rival group too reached there due to which another fight ensued.
Police officers say that they recovered three CCTV footages from the hospital in which the attackers were seen smashing the doors and glasses. Efforts are being made to identify them, a few people from Chhatarpur have been detained for questioning.
