Drive by SDMC, Traffic Police results in curbing unauthorised parking

A special drive conducted by general branches of the zones under South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and Delhi Traffic Police resulted in curbing the incidents of wrong and unauthorised parking on roads and footpaths.

Apart from this, action was also initiated against littering and usage of poly bags as per instructions of National Green Tribunal. With the move, the civic body has tightened its grip over violators of the rules pertaining to parking, littering and plastic bags.

According to the SDMC, 140 challans against littering were issued on the spot in Central Zone and an amount of Rs 9000/-was collected as fine.  While, 194 challans issued by municipal court for insanitary conditions, resulting in collection of Rs 2, 99,300 as fine. Further 14 vehicles seized for violation of parking rules out of which seven were released after receiving a fine amounting to Rs  44,000. Besides, 97 kg poly bags was also seized and 16 challans issued in related violation resulting in collection of Rs  80,000 as fine.

Similarly, in West Zone 139 challans for littering issued and an amount of Rs  6950 was collected as fine. Further 108 vehicles were seized for violation of parking rules.  35 kg poly bags was also seized and 24 challans issued for related violation. A sum of Rs  1, 20,000 was also recovered as fine from the violators.

Meanwhile, in South Zone 39 challans against littering were issued and an amount of Rs  1950 was collected on the spot as fine. 324 Challans for insanitary conditions were also issued by Municipal court and an amount of Rs 3, 99,400 collected. 4 challans were issued against burning of leaves/ garbage under NGT Act and collected of Rs  20,000 as fine.

“Further continuing action against unauthorised parking 182 cars fined on the spot and Rs  2, 08,452 recovered. Also, 59 two and three wheelers were fined on the spot and an amount of Rs  12,424 collected. Besides, two commercial vehicles were also fined resulting in collection of Rs  18,900. In addition to it, 18 kg poly bags seized and 30 challans were issued with collection of Rs  90,000 as fine.

As far as Najafgarh Zone concerned, 47 on the spot challans were issued against littering collected of Rs 2350 as fine. Further, 52 kg poly bags were seized and 22 challans issued resulting in collection of Rs  1,10,000 as fine.
