In convocation to venerate the police officers and recruit constables, the Delhi Police organised a passing out parade of 14 Delhi Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Services (DANIPS) at the Police Training College, Jharoda Kalan on Tuesday. lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal took the salute of the marching contingents along with Commissioner of Delhi Police, Amulya Patnaik.
The parade comprised of 45 Sub-Inspectors (SI) including 32 lady SIs of Goa Police , 84 Constables of Delhi Police, 232 Head Constables (HC) accompanied by 5 Assistant Superintendent and 27 Matrons of Delhi Prisons took the at the march after finishing their vigorous basic training.
While addressing the gathering l-G said "Police and jail officials should be sensitive to the women and weaker sections of the society and protect their rights."
"The atmosphere in Delhi Police is challenging but their contribution to the society is important. Although the Delhi Police in its department is very successful but police officers still have a long way to go in terms of establishing trust and faith of the public so as to build a collaborative influence, "he added.
The trainees have already been equipped with the basic skills required for their profession. They have been trained in law, Police Science, Criminology, Computer Application, Cyber Crime and Women Rights. Police personnel were trained in handling weapons, vehicle driving, firing practices and use latest communication equipments.
Amulya Patnaik, while congratulating trainee officers, said that some vital measures have been taken to enhance the effectiveness of the training such as E-Training Academy where training would be provided online so that we can save the manpower which in time would be visible in the field. "The uptick in crime and its nature makes it imperative for the police force to be updated, skilled in latest technology along with physical and mental agility," he said.
