Babus' reports on WhatsApp upset DoE

Tuesday, 31 October 2017 | ABHINAV SINGH | New Delhi

Not satisfied with the lackadaisical approach of the officials of Education Department who are just putting brief inspection reports on WhatsApp and are not submitting detailed point wise report, the Directorate of Education (DoE) Delhi has planned to seek explanation from such officials. A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting held on last Friday .

Inspection of schools is done by the officials based on various parameters which include academics, infrastructure, performance in exams etc. In the recently held meeting of the officials, the DoE directed all Deputy Directors of Education (DDE) to provide list of such officials who are just not doing jobs that has been assigned to them.

Also considering that the inspection report on WhatsApp does not suffice, DoE has further elaborated that just mentioning deficiencies is not sufficient and inspecting authorities must also advise remedies and take up the same with the concerned higher officials in the headquarters.

Also DoE has directed officers to prioritize schools with least results and poorest discipline for inspection s.

Further, it has also been decided that all teachers working in zonal /District/ Regional DE/ Head Quarters will be send back to their respective schools with immediate effect. For its compliance all Deputy Directors of Education shall sign a certificate to the effect that no teacher is working in any of the zonal/Supervisor Physical Education /DDE offices under their jurisdiction. Also, if the services of any teachers are required in any one of these offices they shall work either before or after attending their school.

It must be noted that many teachers are working in several capacities at various offices of the education department looking after administrative and other related works.

It has also been decided that a proposal would be put up for delegation of powers of Director of Education to the Regional Director of Education , with respect to introduction of additional streams or subjects, shifting/merger of schools/ shifts and transfer of students etc.

In the meeting its has also been decided that there must be High Mast lED light in schools especially in the evening shift schools keeping in view the safety and security of the  students. It says that the points for Installation must be chosen most carefully so that, as far as possible, entire school building gets illuminated.
