In a recent case of mysterious death of a student inside the Kendriya Vidyalaya in the past five days, a Class IV student of a Kendriya Vidyalaya died after he accidentally slipped while climbing downstairs inside his school in East Delhi's Vigyan Vihar area on Tuesday morning. This is the second death of a student inside their school.
In the first incident, a 17-year-old student of Class XI died after he collapsed during the school assembly at Gole Market on Thursday morning. Police said that the deceased Sonu Kumar fainted during morning assembly at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Gole Market at around 7 am. He was rushed to Ram Manohar lohia Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
In the recent case, Riyaaz Sheikh, a Class IV student of the Kendriya Vidyalaya was coming down from his class located on the second floor.
Police said that as per the school authorities, he slipped and fell down from the stairs when he reached the first floor.
The school teachers rushed Riyaaz to the medical room. However, when he did not regain consciousness, he was rushed to an ESI hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Family of Riyaaz claimed that their son died due to the negligence of the school authorities. Based on a written complaint submitted by them, police have registered an FIR at the Vivek Vihar police station.
In the first incident where a class 11 th studied too died, relatives of Sonu said,” Sonu woke up at 6 am, got ready and went to school. Around 7.30 a.m., his father Vishwamitra Prasad received a call from the school authorities stating that Sonu's condition was serious and he was hospitalised.”
The relative further said that Sonu fell face down, broke a tooth and his nose was bleeding when he collapsed. The school authorities found Mr. Prasad's number on Sonu's identity card. “Inquest proceedings have been initiated. No foul play has come to the fore but the district police are questioning all those present in the assembly to investigate the death,” said a senior police officer.
