In a shocking incident, three undertrial prisoners, including two 'Saudi Arabia nationals' and a local, were killed during a clash inside a jail in Manipur on Saturday morning.
Manipur DGP, lM Khaute confirmed the incident and said the incident took place at Sajiwa jail in Imphal after some clash broke out among the jail inmates on Saturday morning. While one of the slain jail inmate is from Manipur, the other two killed inmates were said to be from Saudi Arabia.
"The clash broke out between the jail inmates on Saturday morning. Initially the two, who claimed to have been from Saudi Arabia killed a local inmate. The other jail inmates got very agitated at this and attacked the duo and beat them to death instantly," he said.
While the local victim, identified as Thangmilien Zou was in the jail since 2010 and was facing trial of a murder case, the two foreign nationals had been languishing their terms in the jail for entering the State without any valid documents. Both the foreign nationals, identified as Sushak Ahmed and Abdul Salam were arrested by the State police in 2013 after they were arrested from Moreh town on the Indo-Myanmar border. The duo, however, failed to provide any documents to prove their identity as well as their nationality. They only claimed that they were from Saudi Arabia.
