The construction work of a house under the Indira Awas scheme in Sundargarh district was shown completed and the amount sanctioned was also withdrawn from the account of beneficiary here.
The beneficiary, an old widow, was duped while her house is still incomplete. Sources said, Jhalmani Tirkey(55) at Beheradih under Balishankara block of Kinjirikela panchayat is a daily worker.
She had been sanctioned a house under Indira Awas in 2012. She did not have the capacity to construct the house. looking into Jhalmani’s illiteracy and innocence, two persons of the locality, identified as Parbal Toppo and Saroj Dani, allegedly assured her to construct her house in the sanctioned amount of Rs48,500 and they prepared final bill of her house even it was incomplete by using connection in block and panchayat offices.
The final bill was cleared and when money came to the account of Jhalmani, Parbal Toppo and Saroj Dani allegedly took Rs48,500 from the beneficiary.
When Jhalmani ran to the panchayat office, she was shocked to know to have been duped. Meanwhile, Balishankara BDO Aswini Kumar Meher asked Gram Rojgar Sewak of Kinjirkela Panchayat for an inquiry in this regard.
