Recitation of ‘Sanskrit Shlokas’ by convicts serving their terms in Central Jail Raipur impressed School Education Minister Kedar Kashyap who had visited the jail premises to take part in a programme organised at the end of Sanskrit Week here on Sunday.
“No person is criminal by birth and after getting out from here, you can learn to live in a correct way and become an inseparable part of society,” the Minister said while addressing the gathering of jail inmates.
According to Kashyap, Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages and also a cultural treasure of our great civilization.
He also appreciated the recitation of Sanskrit Shlokas by jail inmates.
later on, the Minister inspected ‘Maha-Pariksha Abhiyan’ conducted under Sakshar Bharat scheme.
Earlier, while presiding over the function, Director General, Jail and Correctional Services Girdhari Nayak, appreciated Sanskrit Vidyamandalam for running a school in the jail for educating convicts.
He termed the initiatives of Vidyamandalam a key factor for bringing positive change in lives person imprisoned.
President, Chhattisgarh Sanskrit Vidyamandalam Ganesh Kaushik informed that the Sanskrit school in jail was being run since 2010 and about 98 different convicts are studying here. Under the nationwide Maha-Pariksha organized as part of Sakshar Bharat Abhiyan, 118 adult learners took part in the exam held at Central Jail Raipur.
