A whopping Rs 197-crore budget of the Shree Jagannatah Temple for the fiscal year 2016-17 was passed in a special meeting of the temple managing body held on the Friday.
On the income side, the temple expects about Rs 67,50,30,000 revenue from sale of temple land situated in Khordha and Ganjam districts, besides another Rs 46,14, 55,000 from auction of store mines. Revenue of Rs 14,21,10,000 is expected from auction of Pindika, commercial bhog selling outlets in the temple complex from donations and hundee collection. This apart, Rs 61.75 crore is expected from the State Government as grant.
On the expenditure side, Rs 40,9,50,000 would be spent on development of infrastructure like construction of three guesthouses to accommodate thousands of pilgrims, establishment of a residential school for children of temple servitors and renovation of the Shree Gundicha Temple.
Rs 24,83,10,000 has been allocated for performance of daily nitees and rituals of the presiding deities. Rs 23.46 crore has been estimated for the establishment cost while Rs 13.22 crore would be spent for servitor welfare projects. Rs 7.68 crore has been allocated for general miscellaneous expenditure. Rs 1, 40, 90,000 has been estimated to be spent on administrative expenditure. Rs 72, 12, 80,000 would be put in the temple corpus fund.
It was revealed that Rs 26,49,60,901 one was spent for the Nabakalebar ritual of the deities. The meeting passed Rs 3.54 crore for the coming Rath Yatra.
