Punjab State Power Corporation limited (PSPCl) has been awarded as “Best Performing Power Distribution Utility in Power Sector” by Central Board of Irrigation & Power (CBIP).
The award was presented to Karan Deep Chaudhri, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, PSPSCl by Union Minister Sanjeev Kumar Balyan Minister in Ministry of Water Resources River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, in New Delhi.
A jury of comprising of A.S.Bakshi, Member, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, S.D.Dubey Chairperson Central Electricity Authority, Ashok Sethi ED, Tata Power Co.ltd. G.S.Jha Chairman CWC, A.B.Pandya, former Chairman, Central Water Commission, K.S.Popli CMD ,IREDA and Ashvini Kumar MD,SECI selected the best power utility.
Chaudhri informed that PSPCl has been awarded on the basis of outstanding contribution to Punjab by providing reliable 24x7 cost effective electricity to all categories of consumers and over all development through optimization of available resources, bringing transparency and ensuring ease of doing business through information Technology initiatives specially in distribution sector.
He said PSPCl has one of the lowest Transmission and Distribution losses in the country and it has brought it down from 23.92% in 2007 to 14.63% in 2016 .
The CMD added that Punjab is first state to provide unique phone number 1912 for registration of all types of complaints across 24X7 by phone and sms. Chaudhri congratulated and thanked all PSPCl officers and employees for their hard work which has made it possible to achieve these milestones.
