PPT holds port awareness drive for schoolchildren

Sunday, 31 July 2016 | PNS | PARADIP

To provide an opportunity to local school students to see and understand port activities, the Public Relations wing of the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) launched a “Port Visit” campaign on Saturday

To begin with, around 150 students accompanied by their faculty from the Port Trust High School visited the port. The students walked through the port observing the ships, cranes, mechanical coal handling plant and other harbour areas and got a first-hand experience of the operations of the port. Senior officials from various departments explained the students about the port operations.

Further, an informative audiovisual clip on the port activities was screened for the children at the Jayadev Sadan. They also got an opportunity to meet and interact with senior PPT officials in an informal ambience. The children returned with excitement and expressed that their first visit to the port was very knowledgeable and informative.

The PPT plans such programmes for other school children also and has already drawn a schedule for each school.
