Owaisi to take plunge with `Jai Meem (Muslim) Jai Bhim' for 2017 polls

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi mired in `Bharat mata’

controversy has coined a new slogan ``Jai Meem (Muslim)  Jai Bhim’ for the 2017 state assembly elections.  He said his party would take the plunge in state assembly elections with the new slogan which signifies the unity of muslims and dalit.  He also raised the slogan of Jai Hind and Jai Bharat.

Owaisi, the Hyderabad MP, who was in state capital on Monday said `` Meri party sirf muslim ke nahi hai, ye hindustaniyon ke party hai’. (My party does represents only the Muslims, it’s the party of Indians) and I am a loyal citizen of India’’.

The MIM president launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi party government and the RSS, alleging that both were the two sides of the same coin.

Owaisi who visited the local Islamic seminary Nadwa was accorded a rousing reception by the  students who came out in thousands and raised slogans raising the MIM leader.

Addressing the press conference Owaisi raised the slogan of `Jai Hind and Jai Bharat said he and his party need no certificate for patriotism from any political party or the organisation. At the venue of the press conference in old city area the BJP workers waved black flags. They were chased away by the MIM workers.

"I have never apologised in my life. I like my ancestors would prefer to sacrifice my head rather  than tendering apology’’, said Owaisi. Targeting the RSS , Owaisi said `` where were these so called nationalist in 1857 when our forefathers led the first struggle for independence, they were nowhere and today they have become the messiah of nationalism and patriotism’’. He added `` I don’t need the certificate of patriotism from the RSS or any other organisation, our ancestors have nourished this nation with their sweat and blood and nationalism was in his DNA’’.

Alleging that the Samajwadi Party and the BJP were the two sides of the same coin Owaisi said `` the RSS chief can come to UP and visit any place in the state he desires but my party has been denied permission to hold rally anywhere in the state during the last four years’’. He said that the Samajwadi party government is scared of the growing popularity of the MIM in UP so the government has not allowed us to hold a single rally in the state.

"The Muslims of UP have seen through the game of the Samajwadi party and they can no longer be taken for a ride by the Samajwadi party and the ruling party of UP will be punished by the muslims for betraying the cause of the minorities and doing nothing on the promises it had made during the 2012 state assembly elections’’, said Owaisi adding ``SP has singularly failed on all fronts to deliver to the people particularly to the muslims. SP had promised to give  reservation to muslims in government jobs and release the muslims youth languishing in jail in fake terror charges, but they did nothing’’.

Questioning the findings of the Vishnu Sahay commission report, which probed into the 2013 Muzaffarnagar communal riots , Owaisi said `` the report  is a cover up exercise  as it has given a clean chit to all political leader.  It is ridiculous to suggest that one IPS officer was responsible for the worst ever communal riots in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas’’.

Owaisi arrived here on Monday morning. From the air port he went to Deva Sharif shrine in Barabanki and later met  the president of the All India muslim personal law board Maulana Rabe hasan Nadvi  at Nadwa. He later met the Shia cleric Maulana kalbe Jawwad. Both the muslim clerics and Owaisi refused to divulge the deliberations of the meeting.

After meeting the Shia cleric in Jauhri Mohalla under chowk police station Owaisi went to Bulaki Adda under Khala Bazar police station. All along the 2 km route heavy deployment of para military forces was made by the district administration.  On the two km long route Owaisi was given rousing reception by the local people. His convey was stopped at several places and honoured him by showering flower petals and garlanding him.

Owaisi is in the centre of raging controversy over his remarks against chanting the slogan of  ' Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. His stance has evoked protest across the country and also in UP. The lucknow district authorities   refused permission to the MIM to hold the rally to be addressed by him at Refah-e-Aam Club ground here on March 17 on the grounds of threat to law and order. The district administration had also denied permission for a road show in the state capital to Owaisi on March 17.
