The State Government's efforts to venture out and showcase Jharkhand as a promising investment destination has started bearing fruit with Chief Minister Raghubar Das hosting two giants in the fields of information technology and apparel designing.
IT leader Microsoft's officials headed by Sanjay Gupta at a meeting with the Chief Minister on Tuesday expressed willingness to set up IT-based training centres in the State.
"The software major is looking forward to set up series of training centres in Jharkhand where master trainers linked with information technology would be readied," said a company official following the meeting that was also attended by Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma, Development Commissioner Amit Khare and other top officials.
The CM during the meeting also urged the company to work in the field of pulses production with the infusion of technology for which there is lot of scope in the State. "The CM has asked the company to prepare a detailed report and present it before the Government for consideration," said IT Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal.
later, representatives of leading apparel manufacturer and exporter of wide range of garments 'Orient Craft' presented a detailed report about the areas where the company can work in the State.
The CM, on his part, underlined the immense potential in the field of textiles along with availability of work force in Jharkhand. "There is a lot of scope for garment industry for which labour is readily available. This would also generate employment opportunity for our local youths. What is required here is that unskilled manpower is trained and linked with the apparel industry. The State Government is willing to cooperate fully," said the Chief Minister.
It was also decided that the company from March next year would start setting up a unit in Ranchi for apparel manufacturing, besides chipping in with its expertise for building the proposed Textile Park in the State.
At the meeting, the company was told that local unemployed youths from backward districts of the State such as Gumla, Dumka, Khunti and Simdega would be given training and placement so that the menace of migration can be tamed.
Orient Craft is already running a training centre in lohardaga where a three-month course is being conducted for the locals. Company CMD Sudheer Dhingra along with Principal Secretary to the CM Sanjay Kumar, Building Construction Secretary KK Soan and other officials were present on the occasion.
