Friday, 18 November 2016 | RR Srivastava | Hazaribagh

The Koderma-Hazaribagh passenger train got derailed near Kurhagadha of Katkamsandi block of the district here on Thursday. Three bogies of the passenger train came down from the track. However no harm to any passenger took place in this accident.

The Koderma-Hazaribagh passenger train was coming to Hazaribagh from Koderma in the morning. At about 8 am it crossed the Katkamsandi railway station and when Hazaribagh station was about 5 km away the passengers suddenly experienced big jolt. When they came down, it was found that the railway track has been broken and three bogies have come down of the track.

After getting information officials of railway and district administration rushed towards the spot. As per our railway sources a piece of railway track measuring about 15 feet has been damaged and the derailed bogies have broken the cemented side wall of the track.

Traffic on this railway line is going on since last more than 1 year and everyday coal loaded goods train passes through this route. Two days ago a goods train loaded with iron roads having three engines has passed through this route for the first time. It was the first goods train which passed on the route of Barkakana-Koderma.

With the start of Barkakana-Koderma route more and more goods train are expected to pass through this route having more weight than coal loaded goods train and people are linking it with the effect of that goods train which was on its way from Tata nagar to Delhi. Earlier the route of this goods train was Barkakana-Garhwa-Mugalsarai. With the start of Barkakana-Hazaribagh-Koderma route now the trains will take less time as it is shorter route in comparison to the old route.

Railway has started repairing work of the broken track and as per their claim it will be all right by evening.
