High Court to be moved over Kalyan Mandap removal

Wednesday, 11 May 2016 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Even as the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is all set to set up its new office by demolishing the Kalyan Mandap located at Unit-VIII, the Nuasahi Mahabir Social Organisation decided to move the Orissa High Court against the civic body’s move.

Organisation secretary Millan Kumar Paikray told reporters here that they would seek information through Right to Information (RTI) next week from the Government on various aspects of the existing Kalyan Mandap as to how much money was spent for its construction, whether locals had given money for it, how many Kalyan Mandaps the BMC has built in last ten years, if no why it is eager to demolish the Nayapalli Kalyan Mandap which is the first such Mandap in the city, why the BMC did not establish its new office in three sites selected earlier.

“After getting the information, we will move to the High Court seeking justice,” added Paikray.
