Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday conferred the Yash Bharti awards on 46 eminent personalities from different fields. Congratulating the winners, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav hoped that the awards would motivate and inspire the younger generation.
The Yash Bharti award comprises a cash prize of Rs 11 lakh, a shawl and a certificate for the recipient’s contribution in the field of art, culture, medicine, literature or sports.
The felicitation function was organised by the Culture department at Ram Manohar lohia law University. It was graced among others by Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The CM also gave away the Ahilya Bai Holkar Samman and Rs 5 lakh to 13-year-old Anjali Mishra of Bareilly for saving two children from drowing in the Ganges in Uttrakhand.
lyricist Sameer was also feted on the occasion for making it to the Guiness Book of Records.
“We are proud of these Yash Bharti winners who have made a name for themselves through hard work. These awards will inspire and motivate the younger generation” said the CM.
Recounting the inaugural function by his father Mulayamn Singh Yadav, the CM said the he was taking the tradition forward. He said that these awards allow people to have a different perception of the state.
SP chief Mulayam Singh said that he instituted these awards to honour the efforts of people contributing in different fields. “There were so many brilliant litteratteurs, poets in UP but they remained unrecognised and the awards added hope to others.”
Yadav Senior said “When these poets stand up to recite during the Kavi Sammelan, they do inspire people. Even officials and journalist who carry out good work should be feted with Yash Bharti awards” said Mulayam Singh.
Feted on the occasion, singer Surabhi Ranjan dedicated the award to her father Udyabhan Singh terming her achievement as the blessings of her father and her guru.
Eminent medico Dr Naresh Trehan told the audience that his professional birth took place in lucknow when he joined the KGMU to study medicine in 1963. “We were taught by eminent teachers who were known across the globe including the USA and the UK. I am honoured to be getting an award here” he said.
Folk singer Kamla Srivastava sang an Awadhi song on saving the girl child.
The 46 reciepients of the Yash Bharti awards include Irfan Habib in the field of education, Dr Naresh Trehan abd Dr Ravi Kant for medicine, in the field of medicine, Ustaad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Ustaad Gulshan Bharti and Surabhi Ranjan for vocal music, Sudhir Mishra, Vishal Bhardwaj , Anurag Kashyap for film direction, Ashok Chakradhar for literature, Arunima Sinha and Aparna Kumar for mountaineering, Brig D Prabhakar for medicine and Sthavi Asthana for horse riding.
