12 IPS officers promoted, Panigrahi gets ADG rank

Twelve IPS officers of the 1991, 1998, 2002 and 2003 batches were promoted to different ranks after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s approval on Tuesday.

According to a notification, 1991-batch officer Debasis Panigrahi was promoted to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) rank and made ADG Personnel at the State Police Headquarters. Amitabh Thakur, Dayal Gangwar and NB Bharathi, all of the 1998 batch, were promoted to Inspector General (IG) rank. However, Thakur has not got new posting. He is now serving as the Southern Range DIG. Gangwar was posted as State Armed Police IG. S Dev Datt Singh and Ravi Kant, also of the 1998 batch, also got proforma promotion. While Singh is serving as Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) DIG, Ravi Kant is CBI DIG.

The Government also promoted 2002-batch officers S Parveen Kumar and Narasingha Bhol to the selection grade.

While 2003-batch officer Kavita Jalan was promoted to the selection grade, her batch mates Shafeen Ahmed K and Himanshu Kumar lal got proforma promotion.
