1 killed as speeding car rams into stationary bus in Okhla

A 30-year-old man was killed in Okhla when a speeding Sx4 car being driven rammed into a stationary school bus on Thursday at 4 pm in Okhla by a woman. The deceased, identified as Aziz Ahmed, was hit by the car as he was standing behind the bus, said eyewitnesses, adding that he died on the spot. His body was sent for postmortem to AIIMS.

The woman too received minor injuries, but managed to flee from the spot leaving behind her mangled car, said eyewitnesses. According to a local resident the accused took an auto rikshaw going down the streets of Johri Farm.

Residents gathered around the accident spot and demanded the immediate arrest of the absconding driver.

“The bus belonged to Aziz’s father Salim, who owns 4-5 buses that after plying students are parked in Noor Nagar. Aziz, who is reported to have an eyesight problem, used to check all the buses in the afternoon. While performing his duty he met with an accident,” said Babloo, an eyewitness.

A tail light of the bus was damaged and the windshield of the car, along with a window was shattered. Papers of the car were seized and a complaint of hit and run was registered against the culprit.
