The remedy bead

Rudraksha is used in ayurveda as an important medicine that can help cure insomnia, liver  and heart diseases. By Tanay Seetha

Rudraksha is a part of ayurveda. It is usually worn on different parts of the body and is also used as an oral medicine. As is widely known, a man’s health can be properly maintained by balancing vata (wind), pitta (bile) and kafa (phlegm). Rudraksha pacifies the three automatically and influences the mind through its electro-magnetic properties.

It is believed that when worn on any part of the body, rudraksha beads exert a subtle acupressure. The most advanced electro acupressure techniques developed in China, Western Europe adopt similar techniques. The modern gadgets of acupressure can hardly match the natural characteristics of rudraksha. It is said that the beads protect your body from negative energies.

Medicines cure illness more effectively when the patient has confidence in the doctor or on the medicine. Faith healing can take place only when one develops an inner confidence. Rudraksha is superior to any other form of natural healing as it has no side-effects. There are a few published and unpublished research works on rudraksha showing its effectiveness as a medicine. Tests carried out at the University of Mumbai have established its positive impact on intelligence and memory and on cardiovascular disorders. There is ample scope for the bead to be used as an ingredient in making several herbal medicines.

Our ancient scriptures mention the bead useful for several ailments:

nRudraksha beads can be put in water that is meant for regular drinking. Preferably, a mud pot can be used to soak them overnight. This is recommended for consumption regularly in the morning in an empty stomach. It is found to control blood pressure.

  • Wearing of five mukhi rudraksha, in red thread, is considered good for heart diseases. It should touch the skin over the heart. The beads are also found to be very effective in treating insomnia, liver diseases, migraine and mental disorders.
  • It is recommended to take rudraksha in powder form twice a day and one time quantity is about 300 mg.
  • Wearing rudraksha is beneficial to the nervous system bringing in calmness and peace of mind. It controls blood pressure and consequently paves the way for mental stability, removing stress and helping one to retain a healthy body.
