The Commissioner of the Department of Economics and Statistics (DES), Rajendra Mishra, said that there is an urgent need to strengthen institutions and promote people’s participation in the planning process.
He was speaking at the State-level workshop on census data dissemination held here at the Academy of Administration on Friday.
He further said that the district planning will play a vital role in the development process. The census data helps for agriculture and rural development. In his keynote address the director of the directorate of census operations in Madhya Pradesh Sachin Sinha said that the census data will help in making policy decisions by government. Indian is having largest youth population in the world. The Census data about Madhya Pradesh enables the government in making plans and welfare schemes in education, health and rural development in the states.
Participating in the programme, Traver Clark, chief of UNICEF office of Madhya Pradesh explained activities undertaken by UNICEF for promoting health and Education of Children in the state. Several officers from all over Madhya Pradesh participated in the workshop.
