Two police personnel were seriously injured in a gun fight with suspected criminals in Kashipur area under Udham Singh Nagar late on Wednesday. Two suspects were also nabbed following the encounter, while a third one managed to escape.
The incident took place when a team of Udham Singh police was conducting raids at a house in Kashipur’s ITI police station area to nab the suspects who were wanted in Kichha petrol pump loot case reported about a week ago. Police said acting on some specific information a team conducted the raids at possible hideouts of the suspects in Kashipur’s ITI police station area late on Wednesday night.
Perhaps, feeling that police were after them, the suspects who had taken shelter in a house in the area, fired shots at them. Subsequently, in the exchange of fire, SI Prahalad Singh and a police constable, Pradeep, received serious injuries. The arrested suspects have been identified as Gurbaz Singh and Prata, both residents of Kichha. Meanwhile, police has launched a man-hunt to nab the third suspect.
