A special training session for making bags from cloth and paper was organised by Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Friday. About 60 women from economically weaker sections took part in the training programme. The training was jointly organised by Woman and Child Welfare Department of RMC along with livelihood Development branch of RMC’s Planning Department in association with Alpa Foundation a Non Government Organisation (NGO). The programme was conducted under Rural Urban livelihood Mission Scheme.
RMC Mayor Pramod Dubey inspected the training session and lauded the efforts in this direction terming it worth following. He appealed to the residents of Raipur to use bags made from cloth and papers in the interest of protecting environment and animals. Considering increased use of polythene bags and its negative impact on the environment, Dubey called upon people to shun use of polythene bags.
