The Inter Agency Group (IAG), Odisha in collaboration with the Christian Aid, CASA and Indian Red Cross Society, State branch(IRCS-OSB) organised a State-level training programme on WASH during emergencies here on Thursday.
Chairperson of IAG Odisha and IRCS-OSB Secretary Dr Chakradhar Panda presided over the meeting, inaugurated by Christian Aid Regional Emergency Manager (South Asia) Dr Dipankar Pattnaik.
large number of participants, including representatives from various grass-root level NGOs from seven districts attended the programme that highlighted existing best practices on WASH during emergencies like iron filter and pond filter along with different strategies, particularly at community-level.
Besides, WASH experts gave training on various aspects like role of WASH during emergencies, environment assessments for WASH implementation, water quality tests and treatment techniques, WASH and the community: tools for communication and engagement, etc.
Among others, Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) CGM Dr Kamal lochan Mishra, Oxfam India Regional Manager Akshya Biswal and Sikha Nayak of the Odisha State Water and Sanitation Mission were present.
