Police detained self-styled Tantrik Deepak Barik (28) on Friday on the charge of killing an eight-year-old boy at Rajendrapur village under the Kuakhia police station in Jajpur district.
On Thursday, deceased Abhisekh Nayak had gone to a villager’s house to attend a festival but did not come back. Next day morning, some villagers retrieved his body from a pond near the village temple. Deceased’s father Niranjan Nayak and some locals alleged that Barik dumped the body in the pond after killing the boy. Investigating is on to unearth the truth, said Kuakhia PS IIC Madhusmita Mohanty.
