Sainik School Tilaiya celebrated its 53rd Founder’s day on Wednesday with great fervour amidst a confluence of its glittering alumni and educationists from all across the country.
Subhash Chandra, Deputy Secretary (Trg) and Honorary secretary, Sainik Schools Society was the chief guest to the mega event. He was welcomed by Col VK Bhat, Principal Sainik School Tilaiya. After laying the wreath at the war memorial, the chief guest interacted with the members of staff and visited the academic block wherein he witnessed a mesmerizing Science, Arts and Craft exhibition. He also inspected the computer lab, language lab and inaugurated the new library-cum-Motivational Hall.
In the special assembly to mark the Founder’s day, the chief guest and the old boys paid floral tributes to the founder Principal lt Col l E G Smith and then cut the ceremonial cake thus marking the beginning of the celebrations.
In his welcome address, Col VK Bhat expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest and all the distinguished guests who had come from all parts of the country. He also mentioned the achievements of the school on the academic front and reiterated the commitment of the school towards achieving greater laurels in future as well.
The senior most ex-cadet of the school DD lahiri, school no 20 of 1963-1968 batch became nostalgic and recalled the discipline and values taught in the school that had shaped the career of all Tilaiyans.
Thereafter the audience was enthralled at the beautiful cultural programme full of patriotic sentiments presented by the cadets of the school.
The Chief Guest also released the school journal ‘The Tilaiyan 2014-2015’. He presented the cock house trophy to Nalanda house and the academic shield to Ashoka house. In his address, the Secretary expressed his deep joy at the beautiful ambiance and discipline of the cadets. He congratulated the school administration for the smooth and able functioning of the school and said that all issues pertaining to the interest of the school would be addressed at top priority and Sainik Schools Society would extend all help for the further uplift of the school.
Col Bhat presented the school memento to the chief guest and thereafter the old Tilaiyans went about the school, observing the new infrastructural changes in the school and interacting with their teachers and cadets.
