A dismissed employee of Tata Sponge of Bilaipada under Joda block was reinstated by the company after the State High Court’s order in this direction.
Sources revealed that Benudhar Barik (59) was working as Mazdoor in the sponge factory. Barik’s agricultural land was acquired by the company and he was provided the job under rehabilitation scheme.
However, he was subsequently removed from service on some grounds.
Aggrieved by the dismissal order of the company, Barik had filed case in the labour Court, Sambalpur. The Presiding Officer, labour Court, after observing the dismissal of the employee being harsh, had ordered for reinstating Barik. However, the Tata Sponge managed to stay the order of the court by filing a writ petition in the High court. Finally, the matter was heard by the High Court on December 28 last which upheld the order of the labour Court. Accordingly, Behera was reinstated in service from February 12.
