local Vigilance sleuths on Saturday arrested Rambha police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Niranjan Das on the charge of taking bribe. Acting on a complaint filed by one Duryodhan Behera, a resident of village Madhurikua under Rambha police circle the Vigilance swung into action. The SI had first demanded Rs1,000 from Behera and later demanded Rs4,000 from the complainant with an assurance neither to arrest nor to place chargesheet against accused person in a kidnapping case. Vigilance officials caught SI Niranjan Das red-handed while taking Rs4,000 in the police station premises. Following the trap, the residential house of the accused was also searched.
