Protesters block NH-75 for 4 hours

Saturday, 31 January 2015 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

The residents of Rehla protested against the police for its failure to control the rising crime cases in the area. The protesters blocked the traffic on NH-75 for more than four hours on Friday. They were angry over a theft in a shop which was later gutted by the miscreants after stealing the shop. Sources informed that this has happened for the second time in a period of 15 days.

In the first incident, a jeep was torched along with a shop. And now this theft cum arsoning. The action of the Rehla Police was not upto the mark in both the cases, admitted DSP PR Barwar. Barwar told The Pioneer that what the locals told him was a poor and sad reflection on part of Rehla Police. Barwar conceded that police should have acted fast and retained the confidence of the locals including the victims, but it failed miserably.

The locals were so angry that the Rehla police had to send an SoS to Daltonganj to send a senior officer to control the situation. DSP Ajay Kumar said: “As I was in Ranchi on Friday for an urgent work in the Jharkhand High Court. So,  DSP PR Barwar had to go there and control the situation.” Barwar said the matter will be adequately looked into. About Friday’s NH-75 jam, he said a tactful handling of the post crime situation would not have seen this kind of public fulmination on NH-75.
