Eminent writer Rabi Singh will get the prestigious Sahitya Bharati Samman-2014 for his distinguished contributions to Odia literature in the forms of poetry and short story compilations. This was announced by the Gangadhar Rath Foundation Trust here on Friday.
The trust is giving away the award every year to renowned persons in the field of Odia literature and it carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a filigree memento of Sun Temple of Konark and a citation. The Samman would be conferred on Rabi Singh by former Supreme Court judge Justice Arijit Pasayat at a function here on March 15.
The trust would also felicitate journalist and social worker Manorama Mohapatra on the occasion with Gangadhar Rath Smaraki Samman. Similarly, poet Hussain Rabi Gandhi would get the year’s Bhanuji Rao Samman and writer Indira Das the Binapani Mohanty Katha Sahitya Purashkar. These awards carry cash prizes of Rs 25,000 each.
The Subrat Rath Smaraki Purashkar would be shared between Sahadev Sahoo and Rabinarayan Moharana, who would get cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each.
