Pahari Mandir Vikash Samiti conducted meeting on Sunday on several issues including the vital agenda of unfurling the national flag at Pahari Mandir on December 27. Pahari temple is all set to make world record for the tallest flagpole and members are putting constant efforts to make the event a grand success.

Citing the vital details of the Pahari Vikash meeting Ranchi DC, Manoj Kumar said, “We discussed on several agendas including the current issue of unfurling the largest and tallest Indian tricolour at Pahari Mandir. We have written to the Chief Minister to approach the Prime Minister to accept the invitation.

However, nothing is confirmed yet. Moreover, today we also had an agreement with Vishnu Agarwal, a business man who is the sponsor and bearing the entire money of the event. On this stance, every year one member of Agarwal family will be present to unfurl the flag at Pahari temple.”

Giving details about the security aspect Kumar added, “Since nothing is confirmed yet so we have not yet made any concrete plan regarding this. The entire thing is under process and presently we are focusing on the flag post. As this is a national level programme so definitely we are going to plan everything accordingly.”

The flagpole and flag are being made by a Pune-based structural engineering company. The flagpole will be 81-metre (265.74 feet) tall and the flag will 99 feet by 66 feet. The highest flagpole and flag measures 250 feet tall and 96 feet by 64 feet correspondingly put up at Faridabad in Haryana.

“Presently, we are focusing on flag post. The flag parts are divided into nine parts, weighing nine tons total. It is a big challenge for all of us to assemble it properly as it requires proper planning,” said Hari Jalan, member of Pahari Vikash Samiti.

It is worth noting, that the National Flag is being hoisted at Pahari Mandir since long time, it was once known as Phansi Tongri, where freedom fighters were hanged by the British viceroys. Pahari Mandir is the only temple in the country to continue with the 68 years old tradition of hoisting the National Flag, which was started in 1947.

Pahari Vikash Samiti meeting focused on further developing the temple, audit report of the financial year 2014-15 was also presented and 41 newly elected people joined the committee to provide service as per required.
