New bridge over Shivnath river to connect Durg & Rajnandgaon

A new bridge is proposed to be constructed at a cost of Rs20 crore over Shivnath river to facilitate faster transportation for the commuters between Durg and Rajnandgaon. Chief Minister Raman Singh on Sunday performed bhoomi pujan for the proposed bridge which would  connect the two cities.

On the occasion, Singh informed that the existing bridge on Shivnath river is about 108 years old and very soon a new bridge would be constructed over the river. “For making available basic amenities to people living in various districts of State, developmental works are being carried out at a rapid pace,’ he said.

The State Government has recently identified Durg as a Revenue division and very soon a new University is going to be established there . The Kamdhenu University and Technical University were also set up here in recent years,” the Chief Minister said, adding, very soon Durg would be one of the most developed districts of Chhattisgarh.

In all the 27 districts of the State, livelihood colleges have been established for youths of State and recently the 27th college was established in Durg, he said.  Singh on the occasion, approved Rs10 lakh for constructing a concrete road in Anjora village and announced for the construction of a Community Hall and mini stadium in the village.

The Chief Minister performed bhoomi pujan of over-bridge and stated that an under bridge at Nehru Nagar Railway Crossing, Durg to be constructed at a cost of Rs41.57 crore besides four Government Polytechnic colleges worth Rs22 lakh each and Office of City and Village Investment Department at a cost of Rs50 lakh. 

Singh also performed foundation laying ceremony for 23 ‘Gaurav Paths’ to be constructed in different villages. In all Rs3.65 crore has been sanctioned for these roads. Under the Mukhyamantri Samagra Vikas Yojna, Singh performed bhoomi pujan and foundation laying ceremony for developmental works worth Rs63.24 lakh. State Revenue and Higher Education Minister Prem Prakash Pandey who also took part in the function and said that Durg district was witnessing rapid development under the leadership of Chief Minister Raman Singh and recently an IIT was also approved in the district.  Woman and Child Development Minister Ramsheela Sahu also addressed the gathering.
