In a major breakthrough, around 25 kg Ephedrine (drug), which is worth Rs10 crore in international market, was seized by the Narcotics Control Board (NCB) Indore from two persons travelling in Kerala Express at Itarsi railway station. The drug was packed in jars and packets of renowned companies like Boost, Complan, Surf Excel, Tide and others.
They were travelling in A-1 coach of Kerala Express. The two accused were detained late night on Wednesday from Itarsi railway station.
Officials of NCB found that the weight of Boost jar was heavy than the printed quantity over the jar. The print mentioned was of 500 gm but when the jar was opened sugar like powder, which weighed around 1.25 kg was recovered from the jar and when other packets were opened the same was found.
