The District and Sessions judge, justice Kunwar Sen, sentenced Dinesh, resident of Daleeppur (Siggaddi), to ten years' imprisonment for sexually assaulting a school-going girl last year. He has also been ordered to pay a fine of Rs5,000. The sentence was pronounced under Child Protection Act and sections 376 (f)/ 354-b/ 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the prosecution, the survivor, a student of Class VII, was assaulted on 19 April 2014 by the accused. Her parents were working in the agricultural fields when the crime was committed.
The accused threatened that he would kill her if she disclosed the matter to anybody. However, she told her parents what happened to her. The father lodged the FIR in Kalalghati Kotwalli against the accused.
The sessions court found the accused guilty under section 376 (f) of the IPC and section 6 of POSCO Act.
