The Kolhan University on Friday approved a planned budget of Rs25.80 crore for the financial year 2015-16. The decision was taken during a senate meeting held at Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district. The budget comprises two new women’s colleges in East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum, renovation of college and university campuses and financial aid to colleges.
The pro vice-chancellor, Shukla Mahanty read out the planned budget for the university in the presence of university officials. The senate meeting was attended by the vice-chancellor and other university officials at the Kolhan University office. Geeta Koda, legislator from Jagannathpur was also inducted in the committee on Friday with the consent of all members.
The senate approved Rs7 crore as grants to colleges, Rs1 crore as financial aid to colleges. The university has also kept aside Rs70 lakh for free girls education in colleges while Rs10 crore for the university campus development. The university runs 25 colleges that include 14 constituent and eight affiliated colleges and two minority colleges. The Jamshedpur Women’s College is the lone autonomous college of the university.
