How same name matters a lot in IPS!

Saturday, 30 May 2015 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

All of a sudden, nonstop calls to the mobile phone of 2004-batch IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh querying him about his transfer puzzled the senior top cop. Singh, the Superintendent of Police Puri, who had just returned from a daylong marathon meeting with the DGP and top brass of police administration on Nabakalebar, was confused over his so-called transfer to Bargarh.

A number of well-wishers, mediapersons, politicians and several others were asking him about his sudden transfer. But fact remained that not he but the 2010-batch IPS Ashish Kumar Singh, who was SP of Deogarh, was transferred to Bargarh in the Thursday’s reshuffle of IPS officers. This created confusion as the senior Singh is highly popular and handling the situation in Puri with full command and confidence. It is high time for the State Government to notify 2004 batch IPS Ashish Kumar Singh (I) and 2010 batch IPS Ashish Kumar Singh (II), say observers. DGP Sanjeev Marik should move a file in this regard to the State Government, feel many.
