Hospital management threatens inquiry committee members

Monday, 05 January 2015 | PNS | Dehradun

The Provincial Medical Health Services (PMHS), the association of Government doctors of the State, has demanded that the State Government should take action against the ‘Rajbhara Medicare Private limited’ for threatening the members of the investigation committee which was looking into the charges of irregularities in the functioning of the community health centre of Raipur.

A three-member committee headed by Dr D K Chakrapani was set up to investigate the allegation of financial and other irregularities by the Rajbhara Medicare Private limited which is managing the CHC Raipur under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. Dr Chakrapani had alleged that he was threatened by the management of hospital on which a complaint was lodged at Raipur police station.

The General Secretary of the PMHS Dr S K Goswami told The Pioneer that a delegation of doctors met the Principal Secretary Health Om Prakash on the issue. He said that the association has raised the demand for strict action against the Rajbhara. Dr Goswami said that if no action is taken against the management of Raipur CHC by January 5, the PMHS would be forced to take the path of agitation.

It is worth mentioning here that the state government on the complaint of hospital superintendent Dr Naresh Napalchiyal had set up an investigation committee. This committee had submitted its preliminary report to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun on Friday.

It is learnt that the committee has found the Rajbhara Medicare private limited guilty of financial irregularity in pathology and other tests. The private player is allegedly involved for burdening the state government and charging it for unnecessary pathological and other tests done on Below Poverty line (BPl) patients and pregnant women. These patients do not have to pay anything for the pathological tests as the state government reimburses the amount of these tests to the private player under PPP.
