Coming to the rescue of caged birds, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij has refused to follow the practice of setting free pigeons at the functions. Vij was the chief guest at the ‘Annual Athletic Meet’ in Government Post-Graduate College in Ambala Cantonment, where the organisers asked him to set some pigeons free from a cage on the stage but he refused to do so.
later, the Minister said that he will take up the matter the Chief Minister to end this practice. He said, “It is unfair to keep helpless birds in cages just to honour a VIP. I have decided to take up the matter with the Chief Minister to put an end to this tradition”, he said.
“I want to end the practice of VIPs being made to set free pigeons from cages at functions” he added. later, the Minister expressed his concern over the issue on Twitter.
