Gearing up to present BJP Government’s maiden Budget next month, Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu on Friday sought suggestions from the public on his Facebook page and Twitter for the 2015-16 Budget.
Capt. Abhimanyu, who would be presenting the Budget of the newly-formed BJP Government in Haryana, sought suggestions from the general public by March 1 regarding their budget expectations.
“Seeking suggestions from the masters of Haryana …pl submit by 1st march,” he posted on Twitter. The Minister who returned here two days ago after completing a management course from Harvard in the US, while talking to the mediapersons on Friday said that he thought of using the IT medium to get feedback from the general public regarding budget.
Without divulging details about the Budget which will be presented once the assembly session begins here next month, Abhimanyu said equitable development will be ensured in Haryana. Plugging revenue leakages, ensuring transparency and overall development will be among the main focus, added he.
The Budget Session of State Assembly will commence from March 9. The Chief Minister Manohar lal had earlier said that the budget will be in the interest of common man, with special focus on rural development.
The Assembly Session is likely to be longest so far as Speaker Kanwal Pal Gujjar along with other Ministers have favoured longer-duration Assembly sessions to ensure that all the legislators got sufficient time to deliberate issues concerning their areas.
This time, increasing debt burden and burgeoning expenditure are likely to remain hallmarks of Haryana budget Estimates for 2015-16. According to the information, a projected lower revenue generation due to the colossal power subsidy (about Rs5,338.5 crore in 2014-15), power theft, dwindling value-added tax and excise collections remains the major challenges before the Planning and Finance Departments.
