GVK EMRI 108 ambulance service gears for Diwali

The GVK EMRI 108 ambulance service of the State is gearing itself to meet emergencies during the Diwali day. 

The State head of 108 service Manish Tinku said that it is observed that the number of accidents increase on the day of Diwali.

Manish Tinku informed that the statistics reveal that maximum number of emergency calls is received from 6 PM to 9 PM on the day of Diwali.

The head of emergency service said that in view of the past experiences it is expected that the number of emergencies could increase this Diwali too and keeping that in mind the service has cancelled the leaves of employees working in call centre and those manning ambulances.

The data reveals that the ambulance service catered 351 calls on the Diwali day in 2010 while the number of cases on the day in the year 2011 was 366 and 346 calls were handled in the year 2012. Similarly 425 and 501 emergency calls were reported on Diwali on 2013 and 2014 respectively.

Tinku said that ambulances are being asked to be on complete preparedness in the cities of Dehradun, Haridwar, Rudrapur and Haldwani.

He informed that the ambulances would be stationed at Survey Chowk, Jakhan (Rajpur road), Prem Nagar Chowk, Suri Chowk (race course), Ring Road Chowk (ladpur), Rispana bridge and ISBT in the State capital.

The 108 head said that the service is sending messages on the mobile phones of the people in which appeals for celebrating a safe Diwali are circulated.
