Many places in the plain districts of Uttarakhand received heavy rainfall while moderate to rather heavy rainfall was reported at isolated parts, taking the past 24 hours on Saturday.
Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rainfall at many places in the State on Sunday. However, the met office has issued warning of possible heavy rainfall (65-80 mm) at isolated places, especially in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Tehri, Pauri, Dehradun and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand, in next 12 hours till Sunday morning.
The figures of rainfall are the following- 115.2 mm rainfall in Haridwar, 72.2 mm in Dehradun, 90 mm in Kotdwar, 90.20 mm in Pantnagar, 105 mm in landsdown and 124 mm in Haldwani by 8. 30 am on Saturday.
As per Met office report, rainfall recorded till by 8.30 am on Saturday was 13.4 mm in Almora, 40 mm in Ranikhet, 10 mm in Bageshwar, 18.2 mm in Kausani, 42 mm in Chamoli, 3.4 mm in Joshimath, 47.5 mm in Karnprayag, 37 mm in Banbasa, 19 mm in Champawat, 35 mm in Mussoorie, 38 mm in Pauri, 30.6 mm in Devprayag, 10 mm in Kirtinagar, 13 mm in Tehri, 22 mm in Rudraprayag, 17.2 mm in Mukteshwar, 61 mm in Nainital, 19 mm in Munsiyari, 25 mm in Pithoragarh, 17 mm in Rudrapur, 32 mm in Kashipur, 23.6 mm in Barkot, 30 mm in Dunda, 30 mm in Purola, 16.2 mm in Uttarkashi.
Following widespread rainfall, maximum temperature in Dehradun came down a few notches as compared to the previous day. The maximum and minimum temperatures were reported around 27.4ºC and 22.6ºC respectively on Saturday.
Director of State Meteorological Centre, Anand Sharma said that the weather forecast for Dehradun on Sunday is generally cloudy sky and a few spells of light rain/thunder showers would occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29 degree Celsius and 22 degree Celsius respectively on Sunday in Dehradun.
