The Bharat Heavy Electricals limited (BHEl) has been conferred with the prestigious National e-Governance Gold Award by the Union Government for 2014-15 at a function held at Gandhinagar on Friday.The award was given in the category — ‘Innovative use of ICT by Central Government PSUs’, for the project ‘SAMPARK — Online Integrated Employee Centric Services Portal’, developed by Information Services and Technology department (ITS), BHEl, Bhopal. The Gold award carries a prize money of Rs2 lakh, a trophy and certificate.
Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel, presented the awards, in the presence of DJ Pandian, Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat, Alok Rawat, Secretary, DARPG-GoI, RS Sharma, Secretary, DeitY-GoI and R Chandrashekar, president, NASSSOM.On behalf of BHEl, the award was received by Rajiv Garg, ED (CS&IT), Mukesh Arora (AGM-IT), NP Sanodia (Sr DGM-IT), Vivek Pathak (Sr Manager-IT) and Rajneesh Rai (Sr Engineer-IT) from BHEl, Bhopal.
The initiative provides an integrated platform to on-roll as well as retired employees to access various employee related services online anytime from anywhere. Recently launched mobile application m-Portal also got widespread appreciation from employees, which enables them to access the services over mobile and handheld devices.
The project was selected for the gold award after detailed evaluation, audit, field visit and presentations from numerous nominations submitted by various departments/institutions and PSUs across the country. The initiative has already won the prestigious “CSI National Award for Excellence in IT 2013”.To recognize and promote excellence in implementation of e-Governance initiatives, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India, presents National Awards for e-Governance every year.
